Salt Speak – Episode 5: Florida Keys Fish & Invert Collection

Salt Speak – Episode 4: Florida Keys Fish and Invert CollectionFor this fifth episode of Salt Speak, I wanted to get the inside scoop from someone working the front lines in the fish and invertebrate collection portion of the saltwater aquarium industry. So I sat down with Kara Rauch of KP Aquatics to discuss the different aspects of operating a small collecting business in the Florida Keys. We spoke about a variety of topics including the demand for Caribbean specimens versus Indo-Pacific, a typical week in the collection business, types of restrictions they abide by, where they collect, the function of their holding facility after collection, and live rock aquaculture.

Do you keep any Caribbean species in your aquarium? Tell us what they are in the comments below. Also, please share this video with any of your salty friends you think would enjoy a look into the collection side of the hobby.
